I perform classical piano compositions based on authentic tribal melodies, representing several different Native American tribes, along with cultural slide presentations of what each melody was originally about. Many composers are represented, including Native composers. A cultural dinner is served afterwards of Navajo Frybread tacos and other foods that Native Americans introduced to the new European settlers many years ago. CDs and a few Native American items will be for sale after the concert. The artist is Lisa Cheryl Thomas and the photo was taken during a concert as a Fulbright Scholar in Canada and Peru last year in 2017. The specific piece featured here is “The Thunder God and the Rainbow” by Harvey Worthington Loomis.
